What's New in the Neighborhood

Here I am and I don't know what to say. Let's see if I can give you a rundown of what is happening chez nous:

We continue to be proud of Nellie (as we are with all of our children). She maintains her 4.0 at school and stays very busy with dance, soccer, basketball management (she is the secret behind the team's success) and so many other good things. She is also the official construction cleaner for our new house which gives her a chance to earn some money.

The house is coming along. If we had a camera I would send you some pictures, but the camera had a little accident. I have learned a lot aboud building a home and spend usually a few hours each day at the house answering questions and overseeing the work. We have a builder, but he is not there all the time and at this point in the process there is a lot going on. We actually hope to complete the inside in March and the exterior by the end of April. Still, there is a lot that needs to happen.

This week the tile guys are finishing putting the tile in the bathrooms. The stair guys have built all of their box newels and balusters. The finish carpenters are putting the wood trim everywhere. The wood floor guys beging tomorrow to install the wood floors where they go. The cabinet guys continue to install more of the cabinets. The stone masons are putting stone around the fireplaces and continuing their work outside. The painters are working downstairs. The sauna arrived and should be installed this week or next.

Anyway, you get the idea- it is taking shape and we are moving forward! The market continues to be slow, but we are trying to make some creative deals hapen with our Francis project. In the mean time, I established ties with a consulting firm in Provo. I thought I would be leaving on a project in Abu Dhabi, but my involvement has been postponed. Too bad- I was ready for a look at the middle east.

Skiing has been great. We received 30" of snow on Sunday so the powder was great on Monday. Probably the best powder year ever for me.

I just finished training all of the priesthood leaders in the stake. The stake presidency had asked me to help them so I put together a 4-week training program. Each Sunday in January I taught 3-90 minute sessions so everyone could get through. There were around 100 people trained. I think it went pretty well. This month we will start the 4-week ward missionary training program again.

We are excited for Zach. Soon, if he hasn't already, his papers will be turned in. I predict.....that he will go where the Lord wants him to go. Whether that is to Idaho, Minnesota or to India I have full faith that the Lord is in charge of this work. So as we unite our prayers for Zach I will continue to pray that the Lord's will be done. Zach is such an amazing young man that he will be such a great blessing wherever he is called to serve. I wish I could be the mission president that has Zach in his mission.

We are proud of each of you and feel so blessed to have such great children and grandchildren. We are anxious to get Kacher and Riley on skiis. Maybe Mikaela can help me to teach them. Hopefully, if we ecercise our faith, they will not go down the path as some have and crossed over to the dreaded snowboard.

Call Nonny Pat from time to time if you are so inclined- 952.892.2662. Also, I would encourage you to call Grandma Miller as well, though I don't have her number. We are blessed with wonderful grandmothers who are still alive and their greatest joy is their posterity. They have much to be proud of.

We love you- Grandpa Koko
